Though we usually post information directly about Highlander, especially the upcoming reboot, we would be remiss if we didn’t note the newly-released trailer for the upcoming final season of Stranger Things. Why? Because the series, set in the 1980s, has regularly used cultural touchstones to help ground it firmly in that decade and in this new case, it uses one of the most famous songs from the Highlander film.
Who Wants to Live Forever, written by Brian May and performed by Queen for the original film, has resonated down the decades since and its use to provide the beats for this farewell to Eleven, her friends and the people of Hawkins seems especially poignant as it’s likely that not everyone will make it out of the battle against Vecna, the Demagorgan(s) and the perils of the Upside Down alive.
The final series of the cult Netflix series will be streamed as follows:
VOL 1 – November 26, 5pm PT (Episodes 1-4)
VOL 2 – Christmas Day, 5pm PT (Episodes 5 through 7)
THE FINALE – New Year’s Eve, 5pm PT (also shown simultaneously in some cinemas).
In the meantime, enjoy the trailer with some very Quickening-like lightning…
