Highlander: The Series writer and Associate Creative Consultant Gillian Horvath looks to be swapping swords for wands with the confirmation that an animated version of Jaymin Eve’s Supernatural Academy books is heading to  to the Peacock platform early next year.

The project was developed and written by Gillian along with executive producer Allen Bohbot and 41 Entertainment.  Gillian also wrote the first and last hours of the series and other writers / familiar names involved are Kaaren Lee Brow, Kerry Glover, Jon Cooksey, Meghan Fitzmartin and Julia Yorks.

Supernatural Academy tells the story of two sisters who were marked at birth but grew up separately…. one was brought up as a popular girl in the world of the supernatural, the other feeling like an awkward outsider in the human world, but now they’re going to be studying alongside each other at the institution of the title… and that’s going to cause some magical turbulence.  However they’re going to have to work together to overcome a series of  everyday and fantastical problems… and possibly save the world.

The series of sixteen half-hour episodes (with original theme-songs by John Majkut) is due to debut on Thursday 20th January  and features a diverse voice-cast. There’s Larissa Dias (Supernatural), Gigi Saul Guerro (Marvel Super Hero Adventures), Vincent Tong (Ninjago), Cardi Wong (Supergirl) and Shannon Chan-Kent (Good Trouble). Bethany Brown (Charmed), Brian Drummond (Mega Man: Fully Charged), Barbara Kottmeier (Supernatural), Alessandro Juliani (Battlestar Galactica), Ali J. Eisner (Fraggle Rock), Diana Kaarina (The Hollow) and Kathleen Barr (Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch).
