Highlander WorldWide is happy to welcome back Gillian Horvath, whose official ‘Associate Creative Consultant’ title belies the sheer scale of the many duties she had working on Highlander: The Series.

Gillian  considers herself a proud alum of the University of Highlander.  In addition to her four years as Script Coordinator and then Associate Creative Consultant on the writing staff of the series, she was one of the writers (in partnership with Bill Panzer) of Highlander: Endgame, and the editor and driving force behind Evening at Joe’s, the book of fanfic-style stories written by cast and crew.

During the run of the series, Gillian also served as a consultant on the merchandising and tie-in novels, and as an unofficial liaison between fandom and the production, passing on online comments to the other writers and producers and squirrelling away copies of outtakes and cut scenes to show at conventions.  (Many of which later featured as lost footage on the DVD releases.)In the years since Highlander, Gillian has continued to work as a writer/producer of sci-fi TV shows, many of them also filmed in Vancouver — and many of them also featuring characters with unnaturally long lifespans.  Her favourites include Forever KnightMythQuest (along with fellow HL alums Morrie Ruvinsky and Donna Lettow), Flash Gordon (with Highlander‘s James Thorpe and David Tynan), Sanctuary (again with James Thorpe, and reuniting her with Peter Wingfield and Jim Byrnes), and the   “Counterfeit Queen” episode of Queen of Swords, featuring Elizabeth Gracen.  Following her run on Sanctuary, Gillian became Showrunner of Primeval: New World, the North American spin-off of the UK series Primeval, and spent two seasons as co-Executive producer on the CW‘s reboot of Beauty & The Beast.

Her upcoming show to look out for is Supernatural Academywhich will stream in Fall of 2021.
