‘Highlander’ reboot script gets ‘Colonized’….

The 'Highlander' movie reboot continues to move forward with a newly-delivered script...

Industry site Deadline is reporting that there is now some significant movement on the Highlander reboot that has been working its way through the studio system for the best part of the last decade.

Ryan Condal has just turned in a script for the reboot which seems to have excited Lionsgate. Condal is the co-creator and executive producer of the Colony series, currently in its third year on the USA Network. He also wrote Rampage, the potential summer-blockbuster starring Dwayne Johnson / The Rock, due out this summer and has been working on a television series based around the origin of  Conan the Barbarian with Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik  and Fargo / The Handmaid’s Tale executive producer Warren Littlefield.

After going through a string of well known potential directors, the Highlander reboot still looks to be on track to be helmed by John Wick‘s  Chad Stahelski. If all goes to plan the film could go before the cameras by the end of this year for a release later in 2019.

“We’ve finally got a screenplay we’re happy with,” Patrick Wachsberger, Head of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group told Deadline. “We have set up the story so it has sequel potential.”
