We are absolutely delighted to announce that we hope to have Peter Wingfield at The Gathering this October…
Peter essayed one of the Highlander franchise’s most enigmatic and beloved characters: the mysterious, sardonic survivor known as Methos. A reluctant warrior who would do whatever was necessary to live to fight another day, the character proved both a strong ally and a moral counterbalance to the ‘hero’ Duncan MacLeod – perhaps seeing something of a ‘better angel’ in the Scottish warrior or perhaps just wanting to keep a pragmatic and opportunistic eye on him as a main contender for ‘the Prize’. Though heroic when he needed to be, Methos had a dark and troubled history and had a thousand regrets about his past actions.
Though Methos remains Peter’s favourite role, the actor’s list of achievements and other characters is notable. He has appeared in the likes of Noah’s Ark, Cold Squad, Caprica, Stargate SG-1, Holby City, Medium, NCIS: Los Angeles, The L Word, Riverworld, 24, Charmed, Smallville, Medics, Soldier-Soldier, The Men’s Room and was the voice of the duplicitous Simon Pemberton on the BBC’s The Archers. On the silver screen he appeared in X-Men 2 and Catwoman.
Peter is an extraordinarily busy man nowadays… after playing a doctor so many times on screen he made the choice to putting his acting career to the side while he trained to be the real thing. In May 2015, Peter Wingfield graduated from the Medical College at the University of Vermont as a Doctor of Medicine. He is now doing his residency training at San Diego at Scripts Mercy and the University of California – San Diego. Peter has chosen to go into the field of anesthesiology.
Peter maintains strong links with his fans through the hard work of the PWFC (Peter Wingfield Fan Club) and continues to run marathons when times permits.
As with ALL guests for this event, guests appear subject to work commitments and Peter’s career usually makes it particularly hard to schedule events far in advance. However we have been working closely with him to see what is possible and he has now told us that we can announce his intention to join us unless those real-life medical duties get in the way.
We’re looking forward – as is he – to getting the old gang back together!
